Arsenal eyeing move for Inter forward

Internazionale are not willing to allow 20-year-old forward Pio Esposito to leave the club despite interest from Arsenal, La Gazzetta dello Sport reports.

After spending two successful seasons on loan at Spezia, Esposito has broken into the first team this season and made a significant impact.

He has recorded seven goals and six assists in 36 appearances for the Serie A leaders this season, developing into an integral member of Cristian Chivu’s squad, earning five senior caps for Italy along the way.

The report reads: “Arteta immediately told Andrea Berta, Brescia’s sporting director who recently arrived in England from Atletico Madrid, while Arsenal fan forums spark debate about the Italian national team striker.

“Berta, who had already anticipated the move, quickly contacted his colleague ]Piero] Ausilio [Inter’s sporting director] to find out more. How much does Esposito cost? But above all, is Esposito for sale?

“Inter responded without even thinking, summarising their answer in an unequivocal statement: ‘Pio is our future, he still has four years left on his contract and is not on the market, no matter the price’.”

Klopp eyes return to management

L’Equipe reports that Jurgen Klopp could leave his head of global soccer role at Red Bull.

The former Liverpool manager departed Anfield following the 2023/24 season, embarking on a new challenge of overseeing football operations at Red Bull, whose clubs include RB Leipzig and RB Salzburg.

But L’Equipe say there is dissatisfaction over results, while Klopp is said to be keen on a return to management.

The report reads: “Jurgen Klopp was inducted with great fanfare as global director of soccer for the Red Bull group on January 1, 2025. However, the honeymoon period may not last long.

“A few days ago, the Austrian daily newspaper Salzburger Nachrichten revealed tensions between the energy drink group’s managers and the former Borussia Dortmund coach. Klopp is reportedly no longer unanimously supported.

“Oliver Mintzlaff, the boss of Red Bull, took his time before issuing a denial: ‘This is completely absurd and unfounded. We are satisfied with Jurgen Klopp’s work’.

“But the sporting situation of the two main clubs in the Red Bull galaxy is hardly satisfactory, and part of the responsibility lies with Klopp, who was chosen in particular to help them take a step forward and win titles. Two-thirds of the way through the season, the results are not living up to expectations.”

The reports adds that Klopp was heavily behind the decision for Leipzig to appoint Ole Werner as their new head coach in the summer, a decision which has been subject to criticism with his side fifth in the Bundesliga.

And L’Equipe said Crystal Palace head coach Oliver Glasner, who is leaving the Premier League club at the end of the season, could replace Klopp.

“For his part, Klopp is reportedly not particularly happy with his new role. As a result, there is increasing talk of him leaving this summer.

“As time goes by, the German is keen to return to coaching, 20 months after leaving Liverpool. The name of Oliver Glasner, currently coach of Crystal Palace, is being mentioned repeatedly as his successor at the end of the season.”
