Aspen needs to make better use of science | Opinion

Editor:

These days, I am grateful for good news and science. Carl Sagan’s take on science is comforting: “Science is a way of thinking much more than a body of knowledge.” It says a lot.

Science requires being open yet skeptical to new ideas. Science is a candle in the dark illuminating the evolution of life and is the foundation for creating better and more efficient technologies.

On the social side, Paris is converting old military buildings into apartments as the need for affordable housing is great. After reading Mick Ireland’s recent economic analysis on the future chances of proposed small, affordable restaurants being economically viable in the old city hall (Armory Building), the best thing to do is to put as many government price-controlled affordable apartments there, using Japanese design aesthetics. Smaller is better for downtown.

The Culdesac neighborhood in Tempe, Arizona, is the answer for car parking.
