Over the weekend, I saw Stephen Wilson Jr. in concert. I’d been turned on to him back during the various New Year’s Eve shows going on, and have been listening ever since. He’s known for an amazing cover of Stand By Me, as well as his original tunes, and I’m shocked that he’s yet to appear in a notable movie soundtrack. So, that got me thinking about an Awards Radar Community Question. Which under the radar musician should have a song in a big film’s soundtrack? That’s what we want to know today…
If you’ve got someone like my pick, clue us in. I know I’m somewhat ignorant to up and comers in the music business, so it’s a great opportunity to learn about some good tunes. Yours truly almost always ends up late to the party when it comes to cool music, often only learning about certain hit songs through soundtracks. If anyone else is like me, consider these picks as a potential service to those of us who just aren’t in the musical know.
Maybe you don’t have an under the radar musician like Stephen Wilson Jr., but want to cite a song from a better known artist or band that few have heard? I know for a fact there’s a ton of Billy Joel, John Mayer, Bruce Springsteen, and Taylor Swift songs I love that have never popped up in a flick or on a show. Perhaps there’s someone along those lines who fits the bill for you?
Now, it’s your turn. What’s an under the radar musician or song that would just go perfectly in a soundtrack? However you choose to tackle the question, we’re very curious to hear all about it. So, don’t be shy and have at it…
Which under the radar musician deserves to have their music be in an upcoming soundtrack? Let us know!
