Baseball Shuts Out Quinnipiac In Run-Rule Fashion, 10-0


JACKSONVILLE, FLA.  – North Florida Baseball notched its fourth win in five games in run-rule fashion with a shutout against Quinnipiac, 10-0, at Harmon Stadium on Friday. 

It marked the third time in four games the Ospreys run-ruled their opponent. 

Redshirt sophomore right-handed pitcher Tyler Kozera got the start on the mound for North Florida and got out of a scoreless first with a pair of strikeouts. Kozera posted four total strikeouts in two scoreless frames.

Redshirt junior utility player Jackson Schrafft broke the game open in the second frame with his second grand slam in five games to put UNF ahead, 5-0.

Sophomore infielder Seth Alford tacked on another run for North Florida in the fourth with an RBI single to make the margin 6-0. Redshirt junior utility player Jackson Toberman added an insurance run in the fifth with his first home run as an Osprey to extend UNF’s advantage to 7-0.

Redshirt junior left-handed pitcher Dakota Stone entered in relief for Kozera and dealt four strikeouts in three innings of scoreless work without allowing a hit.

North Florida scored its final two runs of the game in the seventh with a two-RBI single to right off the bat of redshirt freshman outfielder Sean Benjamin, bringing the run-rule score to its final margin.
