MKAU Gaming was invited by EA to take part in an exclusive digital event, giving us an early look at what is coming in Season Two of Battlefield 6, launching February 17th. What we saw wasn’t just a simple content drop; it’s a bold evolution of the Battlefield experience, which they promised us on release. It’s packed with new content, refinements and surprises to keep the momentum rolling. EA has broken the season down into three distinct phases, each one building on the last, and if what we have seen so far is anything to go by, this season is going to be very exciting for Battlefield fans.
Phase One of Season Two is called Extreme Measures, which sets the tone immediately, throwing players into a high-risk, high-reward combat scenario that leans heavily into teamwork, adaptability and sheer battlefield chaos. The headline addition is the new map “Contaminated”, which drops players into a sprawling European mountainside dominated by a fortified German airbase and harsh, rocky terrain. This is an expansive battlefield that demands coordination to secure a victory, encouraging squads to make full use of everything at their disposal. From Tanks to Helicopters to infantry pushes and smart positioning. It’s a map that feels unapologetic.
Adding a unique twist to the phase is the VL-7 event, which introduces a gas-based smoke cloud that will dramatically alter engagement. Players caught inside without a gas mask on will experience disorienting visual and audio hallucinations, forcing quick reactions and smarter loadout decisions. While there is a gas mask added to your arsenal for the event, deploying the VL-7 is a double-edged sword; used well, it can break the enemy lines down, but poor placement can easily disrupt the movement of your team.

The weapon variety also gets a solid boost. The VCR-2 assault rifle is built for brutal close-quarters combat, rewarding that more aggressive gameplay. The M121 AE is a new belt-fed light machine gun that brings some serious firepower to the battlefield, which is capable of chewing through enemies when holding or pushing objectives. Rounding off the new weapon lineup is the GRT-CPS, which is a semi-automatic DMR designed for mid-to-long range encounters, boasting a high magazine capacity that keeps marksmen effective without feeling the pressure of reloading all the time.
Gadgets have also received a bit of a boost this season with Engineers gaining access to the 9K38 IGLA, which is a guided missile launcher perfect for dealing with helicopters and jets that are being a complete pain in the ass. Recon players have also not been left out with the addition of the HTI-Mk2, which offers the Recon class an opportunity to detect and destroy enemy gadgets, Recon drones and incoming missiles, adding some great counterplay.
Rounding out Phase One is a fan-favourite returning to the AH-6 Little Bird helicopter. Long-time Battlefield players will be pleased to see this nimble little helicopter coming back to the action, which will be available across multiple maps and once again delivering that fast, high-skill aerial combat. Extreme Measure will run from February 17th to March 17th, and if this opening chapter is anything to indicate, Season Two is shaping up to be a bold and explosive evolution of Battlefield 6.
Phase Two, Nightfall shifts Battlefield 6 into a far more tense and methodical experience, trading open-scale chaos for shadows, silence, and close-quarters combat where awareness is everything. The new map, Hagental Base, takes players deep beneath the mountain range first introduced in Phase One’s Contaminated. This underground facility is built for those tight engagements, with narrow corridors and enclosed spaces forcing you into those tighter close-quarter encounters.

There is also a remixed version of the map that is running as an event for Phase Two, which plays with the name “Nightfall”, which introduces a full blackout mode, which pushes the tension even further. During the event, you will be given some night vision goggles (NVGs), but relying on these comes with a risk, as enemies running around using a torch can actually blind you when running around with your NVGs on.
Nightfall also expands into RedSec with a new gauntlet-style mode that throws squads into an intense corridor-based encounter. Survival depends on coordinated movement, smart use of NVGs and flashlights, and maintaining control in the claustrophobic environment where mistakes are punished instantly.
Weapon additions in Phase Two are tailored perfectly for fighting in the dark. The CZ3AI submachine gun delivers a rapid fire rate ideal for clearing tight spaces and dropping enemies before they can react. Alongside it is the VZ.61, a fully automatic sidearm designed for those last resort situations, offering low damage but a blistering fire rate when you need those final bullets to stay alive.
Rounding out Nightfall’s content is the debut of the M1030 Dirt Bike, a fast and agile vehicle built for navigating tight spaces and rapid repositioning. Featuring two seats, it allows your bestie to ride shotgun on the back, adding that flexible and fast-paced traverse only a dirtbike can offer. Phase Two: Nightfall leans heavily into tension, stealth and precision, delivering a stark contrast to Phase One and proving Season Two isn’t afraid to change the formula up a little.
Phase Three, Hunter / Prey, brings Season Two into a climactic close with a return to one of Battlefields’ most intense and memorable experiences. Headlining the phase is a limited-time mode called Operation Auger, a fan favourite first introduced in Battlefield 1. This standalone mode spans both Contaminated and Hagental Base, creating a connected infantry-focused battlefield where the momentum constantly shifts.
NATO forces launch a full-scale assault on the underground facility, deploying VL-7 gas to flush the defenders from Contaminated and force them deeper into Hagental Base. The result is a relentless push and pull experience that blends large-scale pressure with the more brutal close-quarters combat.
EA is keeping the rest of Season Two under wraps; they have confirmed there will be additional content on the way, including a new vehicle, new gear and the possibility of additional limited-time events. With details intentionally being held back from us. Phase Three is going to keep players guessing up to the release. Hunter / Prey is the finale to Season Two, and brings everything introduced in the earlier phases together into a high-stakes, high-infantry driven showdown that rewards teamwork, aggression and smart tactical play.
Season Two of Battlefield 6 feels like a confident statement from EA, not just that the game is evolving, but it’s doing so with purpose. Across all three phases there’s a clear statement of experimentation, escalation and the respect for what makes Battlefield special. From the explosive scale and chaos of Extreme Measures, through the tense, shadow-filled encounters of Nightfall, and finally into the relentless infantry-focused pressure of Hunter / Prey, each phase builds an experience I can’t wait to experience.
