Boyd Gaming opens doors to new Cadence Crossing Casino in Henderson | Casinos & Gaming

Boyd Gaming Corp. executives on Wednesday opened the doors of the company’s newest property that one day is expected to become a new hotel-casino for the company’s resort portfolio.

Top Boyd brass and city of Henderson dignitaries cut the ribbon for the Cadence Crossing Casino amid a crowd of well-wishers with a public opening of the casino planned at noon.

Company officials initially expected to open the property in mid-2026 but this month announced the earlier opening.

Boyd plans to expand the property as the nearby Cadence housing development grows, ultimately expecting to build a hotel with an undetermined number of rooms at the site.

Boyd officials have lauded the residential development of the Cadence neighborhood, noting it as one of the fastest-growing reidential developments in the country.

With the doors of Cadence Crossing open, Boyd next plans to demolish the Jokers Wild casino on the site and turn that land into parking for the new casino.

The 50,000-square-foot project with a 10,000-square-foot casino is Boyd’s first development in 20 years. The company unveiled plans for the project in its second-quarter earnings call in July 2024. The project and other renovations at an out-of-state property are expected to be covered with a $100 million capital expenditure allocation on the company’s balance sheet.

The project took less than a year to complete after an April 3 groundbreaking attended by the entire Henderson City Council.

This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
