Hollywood star Brad Pitt is currently in Attica filming scenes for the upcoming feature film The Riders, as the international production continues its shoot across several locations in Greece.

According to recent reports, part of the filming activity has taken place in Lavrio, in eastern Attica. The coastal town has served as a backdrop for several scenes, with production crews and equipment set up in selected areas while local authorities coordinated arrangements to support the filming.

Directed by Edward Berger, the filmmaker behind the Academy Award-winning All Quiet on the Western Front, The Riders is based on the novel of the same name by Australian author Tim Winton. The film follows a man searching across Europe for his missing wife after she mysteriously disappears during a trip.

The project has also brought filming activity to Athens, where scenes were shot in parts of the city center. Residents and passersby spotted the Hollywood actor during production days, while several locations in the capital were temporarily transformed into film sets, including Kotzia Square and the Athens Town Hall.

Before arriving in Attica, the production filmed scenes in Chalkida, on the island of Evia, where the presence of the actor and the production crew attracted the attention of locals.

Earlier in the filming schedule, the crew had also worked on the island of Hydra, whose historic harbor and distinctive architecture provided a scenic backdrop for the story.

Filming for The Riders is set to continue in Nea Makri, where Brad Pitt and the production team are expected to shoot scenes from March 11 to 13, marking one of the final stages of the film’s shooting schedule in Greece.

Speaking to Greek media, Marathon Mayor Stergios Tsirkas shared details about the choice of location by the film’s producers. “They asked to use Nea Makri’s beach and small harbor for two filming sessions,” Tsirkas said, noting that the production represents significant promotion for the area.

According to a decision published on the government’s Diavgeia transparency platform, the film’s producers will provide a 3,000 euros sponsorship to the Municipality of Marathon.

Filming is scheduled to take place outside the Nireus Hotel, at the Nea Makri Nautical Club, and along Agiou Konstantinou Street, near the parking area at number 8. Once shooting in Nea Makri is completed, filming for The Riders in Greece is expected to conclude.

The production is among a growing number of international film and television projects choosing Greece as a filming destination in recent years. With its diverse landscapes, historic settings and expanding production infrastructure, the country has increasingly attracted global productions seeking Mediterranean locations for international shoots.
