British family who went off grid, now wanted by police



This family live off-grid in a terracotta-tiled, stone farmhouse which sits in a patch of woodland near the village of Palmoli in the mountainous Abruzzo region of Italy.

They draw water from a well, produce electricity from solar panels and grow vegetables on patches of land cleared from the forest.

The Italian authorities, however, have taken a dim view of the Anglo-Australian family’s back-to-basics lifestyle – so much so that they are threatening to take the children away and place them in care.
