The Sacramento Kings are setting themselves up for a high lottery pick in this summer’s NBA Draft, but which player should they target if they get the top pick?
While prospects like Kansas guard Darryn Peterson and BYU forward AJ Dybantsa have drawn much of the national spotlight, one name continues to gain traction among draft analysts: Cameron Boozer.
During a recent appearance on Sactown Sports’ The Matt & Kayla Show, Corey Tulaba, an NBA Draft analyst for No Ceilings, made it clear that Duke Blue Devils forward Cameron Boozer could end up being the best player in the entire class — and potentially the perfect fit for Sacramento.
Over 30 games this season, Boozer–the son of former NBA All-Star forward Carlos Boozer–is averaging 22.6 points, 10.0 rebounds, 4.0 assists, and 1.6 steals per game on 58/40/78 shooting splits.

Should Cameron Boozer Be The Kings’ Top Draft Target?
Tulaba described the overall class as one worth teams aggressively positioning themselves for.
“This is the craziest draft class that I’ve ever evaluated from a strictly, you know, potential as prospects,” Tulaba said. “Just strictly judging off like their talent, the production, the depth of this class, like you’re going to be able to get a high-level player, I think, all the way through the top 10.”
Still, Tulaba believes Cameron Boozer may be flying under the radar compared to some of the flashier prospects.
“I mean, Cameron Boozer is being severely underrated as potentially the best guy in this class,” Tulaba said. “We could be looking back at not talking about him the way that we should be, the same way that we now look at Luka Doncic, as potentially the one who should have been the top pick, arguably, in his class.”
That comparison alone speaks to the level of talent evaluators believe Boozer possesses. The star forward has built a reputation as one of the most complete players in college basketball.
According to Tulaba, his resume speaks for itself.
“He has won literally everything his entire life on the International Circuit, at the high school circuit, like he has AAU, he has accomplished everything there is to accomplish, and now he is the best player in college basketball as one of the youngest players in the draft,” Tulaba said.

While some prospects attract attention with highlight plays and explosive scoring, Cameron Boozer’s game is built on consistency and basketball IQ. His 6’9, 250-pound frame doesn’t hurt, either.
“He basically has zero holes in his game,” Tulaba said. “He’s got the strength already to be a 25-26-year-old veteran in the league. He reads the game like a supercomputer.”
For the Sacramento Kings, who have spent much of the past two decades searching for sustained stability, Tulaba believes Cameron Boozer could be a franchise-changing selection.
“From the Kings’ perspective, as an outsider, Cam might be a fairly easy choice for me,” Tulaba explained. “This is an organization that has not had any sense of stability, and if you draft Cameron Boozer, your team is going to be set for, I don’t know, the next 15 years.”
Tulaba also emphasized how easily Cameron Boozer could fit into virtually any roster around the league.
“He’s going to be a guy that I think it’s going to be fairly easy to build the championship team around as well. Just plug and play him next to absolutely anybody,” he said. “There is no downside with him. He is rock solid across the board.”
With the 2026 NBA Draft still months away, the lottery order remains uncertain. But if the Sacramento Kings find themselves picking near the top, the case for Cameron Boozer — a prospect described as generational by some evaluators — may be impossible to ignore.
