Last fall Duran Lantink, one of fashion’s favorite cult provocateurs, showed his first collection for the legendary house of Jean Paul Gaultier. The response was shock and confusion: journalists and online commentators accused Lantink of sexism and of betraying the legacy of Gaultier himself.
