March 13, 2026 — BlackMark Studio and Valkyrie Initiative, with development by ReCon Team, today announced that Caribbean Legend: Age of Pirates is now available on Steam for PC for $19.99. A standalone remaster of Age of Pirates 2: City of Abandoned Ships, the game revives a cult-favorite pirate RPG with modernized controls, a refined interface, and a wide range of quality-of-life improvements while preserving its open-ended sandbox identity.
Set in the 17th-century Caribbean, Caribbean Legend: Age of Pirates blends naval combat, land exploration, and a strategic global map into a single open-world pirate adventure. Players can step into the role of Peter Blood or create their own captain, including a female protagonist option, then forge their own path through war, trade, privateering, treasure hunting, and conquest.
Designed as a true sandbox experience, the game removes story timers and forced objectives, giving players the freedom to serve colonial powers, earn letters of marque, conquer settlements, recruit companions, build a fleet, and pursue more than 20 major side quests alongside hundreds of procedural missions. Historical figures and events are woven into a world filled with native ruins, urban dungeons, buried treasure, and trade routes to exploit.
Built on the Caribbean Legend engine, the remaster draws on years of community passion and development. ReCon Team, one of the most established modding groups in the Sea Dogs community, developed the game as an official Steam release, while BlackMark Studio provided the engine, technical support, and Steam infrastructure. The result is a standalone release with its own identity: where Caribbean Legend leans more heavily toward story, Age of Pirates is focused squarely on open-world freeplay and sandbox depth.
The launch also introduces day-one platform support for Steam Achievements, Steam Workshop, and Steam Cloud. In the official release announcement, the team also confirmed the launch of the Supporter Pack DLC, an open Steam Workshop for mods, a new launcher with monitor and GPU selection, stability improvements including fixes for AMD 6000–9000 series GPU crash issues, and more than 40 achievements available at launch, with additional achievements planned in future updates.
“City of Abandoned Ships deserved a second chance. Now it’s getting one,” BlackMark Studio head Joruba said in the game’s pre-release announcement.
