The first season of Love Story has come to an end, but the public’s fascination with Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy endures. Photos of the late style icon in her college years recently resurfaced, suggesting that her career in fashion almost looked a little different.

Around the time of her graduation from Boston University, Bessette-Kennedy became a sales associate at Calvin Klein, rising up the ranks until she was named the brand’s public relations director. However, she was also considering a career as a model, according to the Daily Mail.

A series of 1980s glamour shots depicting Bessette-Kennedy were obtained by the outlet and published on April 2. In multiple black-and-white photographs, she modeled a plethora of wardrobe staples, from cozy knitwear to leather jackets and jeans.

Notably, her hair appeared darker than the platinum blonde hue she eventually came to prefer. Bessette-Kennedy’s long tresses were styled in a characteristically ’80s fashion: She rocked feathered bangs in one photo and a voluminous side part in multiple others.

Bessette-Kennedy also sported a set of naturally bushy brows, which she later plucked once thinner shapes became trendy in the 1990s.

While her career as a model didn’t pan out, she would feature on the cover of a 1988 calendar entitled “The Girls of B.U.” That same year, she graduated with a degree in education.

The debut season of Ryan Murphy’s latest anthology followed the former publicist’s relationship with John F. Kennedy Jr., whom she married in 1996. A close friend of the couple recently shared more details about their intimate wedding, held on Georgia’s remote Cumberland Island.

“I was sworn to secrecy,” Kennedy’s longtime pal Sasha Chermayeff told Page Six in an interview published on March 5. The couple sought to keep details about their ceremony out of the public eye.

“I was one of the people that found out kind of late in the game,” Chermayeff said. Kennedy and his bride-to-be invited their guests by word of mouth rather than mailing physical invitations in an attempt to evade paparazzi.

“It was beautiful with that moss hanging down from the trees,” Chermayeff, who met John in high school, said of the venue.
