Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy Is My ‘90s Minimalism Muse—7 Outfits I’m Copying

When I first watched the trailer for FX’s Love Story, my eyes were glued to the screen. Premiering February 12, the nine-part, Ryan Murphy-produced series follows the riveting romance between Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy and John F. Kennedy Jr.—a complex relationship that ultimately ended in a tragic 1999 plane crash.

While I certainly plan to binge-watch the show for the plot, I’ll also be tuning in for the on-screen wardrobe of Carolyn’s character, played by Sarah Pidgeon. After all, CBK was—and still remains—a ‘90s minimalism fashion icon, revered among style connoisseurs as the ultimate It girl. She worked as a publicist for Calvin Klein, and mastered the art of pared-down dressing like no other, elevating jeans-and-tee outfits and making even the simplest LBD feel distinctive. Often dressed in quiet-luxury brands like Prada and Yohji Yamamoto, CBK staunchly avoided loud logos, vibrant prints, and even jewelry.
