Paramount to Release 15 Movies in Theaters Starting in 2026

Paramount Skydance reasserted its plans to quickly ramp up the number of films it puts in theaters, announcing in its first earnings call since its merger this past summer that it seeks to release at least 15 films annually starting next year. CEO David Ellison said at Bloomberg Screentime last month that he wanted to get his new motion picture group’s output to 15 films per year starting in 2027, but that goal has been moved up in the company’s latest release. “Our 2025 film slate has underperformed, with most titles expected to miss their lifetime profit targets. This presents an opportunity to recalibrate, and we are focused on making the necessary improvements to our future slate,” the release published on Monday read. “At the same time, we ...

The Elder Scrolls 6 still “a long ways off” according to Bethesda’s Todd Howard — and he says shadow dropping Oblivion Remastered “worked out well”

Any fans of The Elder Scrolls that are wondering when it'll finally be time for the sixth mainline entry in Bethesda Game Studios fantasy role-playing series will be waiting a while longer. The Elder Scrolls 6 is "still a long ways off," according to executive producer Todd Howard, who shared that small update in an interview with GQ.“I’m preaching patience,” he says. “I don’t want fans to feel anxious.”While The Elder Scrolls 6 was first announced with a small teaser all the way back at E3 2018, Bethesda Game Studios hasn't shared anything since, with the team focused on the release of its science-fiction title Starfield in 2023.Howard goes on to add that while the studio now has "hundreds" of people working on the Fallout franchise "with 76 and some other things we're doing," The Elder S...

You Could Argue Any of These 10 Movies Is the Best War Film of All Time

War movies have long held a unique place in cinema, offering audiences both thrilling spectacle and profound reflection on the human experience. Unlike other genres, war movies tackle the extremes of human behavior, exploring courage, fear, morality, and the devastating consequences of conflict. These movies serve as cultural artifacts that preserve the human stories that have come from some of the darkest moments in history. The greatest war movies often transcend their immediate historical settings, delivering universal themes that resonate across time and place. They explore complex moral dilemmas, the psychological toll of combat, and the consequences of decisions made under extreme circumstances. By highlighting personal sacrifice, ethical conflict, and the fragility of life, the b...

Century Entertainment drives revenue from new online gaming platform, seeks new table game business in Vietnam – IAG

Century Entertainment International Holdings Ltd says its newly formed gaming systems platform joint venture business generated more than HK$5 million (US$643,000) in revenue in its first three months of operations as it continues efforts to diversify its business operations. Having finally relaunched VIP table game operations in Cambodia earlier in the year – only to quickly terminate them after parting ways with Chairman and CEO Ng Man Sun – the company revealed via a Monday filing that it has been working to “leverage its technical team and existing client relationships in Asia” to market and distribute gaming system platforms and related content across the Asia Pacific region. This follows its announcement in early July that it had formed a joint venture with Philippines-based Worl...

10 Most Soul-Crushing Movies of All Time, Ranked

A drama doesn’t have to be absolutely soul-crushing to be good, and actually, a movie doesn’t even have to be a drama, first and foremost, to be soul-crushing. If you're after dramas that are heavy but ultimately not entirely depressing, there are cathartic films like The Shawshank Redemption and It’s a Wonderful Life, for two random examples. And then some otherwise funny movies are cynical enough to be sort of soul-crushing in some ways, like Dr. Strangelove and the more recent Parasite. But the following films are, by and large, dramatic, and they don’t really offer much by way of catharsis, humor, or any kind of uplifting message that can be taken away, when all’s said and done. Knowing that some of these movies are soul-crushing could be seen as delivering some indirect spoilers, b...

Musicians march through Venice after La Fenice names music director with ties to Meloni

VENICE, Italy (AP) — The storied Venetian opera house La Fenice is locked in an escalating dispute with its workers over the appointment of a young and telegenic music director with ties to Premier Giorgia Meloni but none with the musicians with whom she has been hired to construct the theater’s musical future. On Monday, musicians, singers and backstage hands marched through Venice with workers from other Italian opera houses, including Milan’s Teatro alla Scala, Verona’s Arena and Turin’s Regio Teatro. They were joined by season-ticket holders, music students and Venetians worried about the future of artistic independence at La Fenice — and across Italy. What began as a labor protest over a lack of transparency in the Sept. 22 appointment of 35-year-old Beatrice Venezi has evolved into a w...

Razer Orochi V2 Mobile Wireless Gaming Mouse Wants to be a Road Warrior’s Secret Weapon

Razer made the Orochi V2, priced at $33.99 (was $69.99), small enough to slip unnoticed into a laptop sleeve, measuring in at 4.2 by 2.4 by 1.5 inches. That size allows it to fit alongside a charger or power bank in your carry on without hogging up space. For those of us who haul laptops through airports, every gram counts – and the Orochi V2 barely registers in a pocket, weighing in at under 60 grams without a battery – or 64 grams if you spring for a slim AAA. Take the magnetic top shell off, and everything still fits neatly inside : the 2.4GHz wireless dongle snugs right up next to the battery compartment. No more parts rattling around your bag during a bumpy flight, making it that much more convenient to travel with. Switch to Bluetooth and you can use it with your tablet or phone. Po...

3 Best Movies To Watch on Netflix This Week

Another weekend at the box office has come and gone with little to write home about. Despite the instant success of Dan Trachtenberg's Predator: Badlands, which earned $80 million worldwide in its first three days, the rest of the current theatrical line-up continues to disappoint. Underwhelming arrivals for the likes of Sydney Sweeney's new sports biopic Christy and the Jennifer Lawrence and Robert Pattinson-led Die My Love compound the frustration felt by the likes of Tron: Ares and more over recent weeks. Thankfully, the current streaming slate is far from underwhelming, with plenty of options for you to enjoy from your own home. With that in mind, here's a list of three movies you should watch on Netflix this week. For more recommendations, check out our list of the best shows and m...

Credit: Todd Rosenberg Photography If you are an adventurous music aficionado, Evanston is a great place to live. We have everything! Major artists from multiple genres put our town on their touring schedules due to the presence of magnificent performance venues (SPACE, Pick-Staiger Concert Hall, Cahn Auditorium, etc.). We have a large population of outstanding local musicians (both vocational and avocational) who entertain at smaller dedicated music spaces, churches, bars and restaurants. Northwestern’s Bienen School of Music is a major contributor to this rich mix, and the university’s concert planners have scheduled some unique performances in the coming weeks. As is often the case at the Bienen ...
