The 10 Best Movies of Hollywood’s Golden Age

Which ones stand the test of time and still feel relevant, and as important today? I picked 10 that are wonderful. Let's dive in. 1. Casablanca (1942) Director: Michael Curtiz Writers: Julius J. Epstein, Philip G. Epstein, Howard Koch Cast: Humphrey Bogart, Ingrid Bergman, Paul Henreid, Claude RainsYou can't really talk about Hollywood classics without mentioning Casablanca. I th...

I have a new gaming obsession in Riftbound: the League of Legends spinoff I’ve been waiting for

As someone who has tried and failed several times to stick with League of Legends, I know firsthand how unapproachable Summoner’s Rift can seem, but that’s recently changed thanks to Riftbound. For the past week, since its launch, I’ve been playing as much of it as I can, and Dave Guskin (Riftbound’s Game Director) is right – this TCG is one of the most accessible I’ve played in a while, and it will get players hooked.Whether you’re a longtime TCG fan like me, love League of Legends or only know the characters through Arcane, or are a complete newcomer to either League or card games, there’s something utterly delightful here with Riftbound.Even my fiancée had a blast when I encouraged (read: bribed) her to play a few games with me – saying, “It’s a lot better than Magic [The Gathering].” I...

Dallas Symphony Orchestra debuts new piece – NBC 5 Dallas-Fort Worth

Collaboration yields beautiful things. When the Dallas Symphony Orchestra debuts Jon Cziner’s new piece, Clarinet Concerto, Nov. 20 – 22 at the Meyerson Symphony Center in Dallas, the audience will hear the result of a multi-year collaboration between the composer and the orchestra’s Principal Clarinet, Gregory Raden. Raden initially approached the Dallas-based composer and artistic director of Dallas’ Voices for Change before the pandemic about a project for a clarinet and a quartet. The project stalled during the pandemic. Eventually, Cziner and Raden revisited the project, redeveloping it into a much larger piece. “It’s a much different piece than it was when it was first composed, but a lot of the ideas in that original piece which is about nine minutes long and for five instruments...

Today, I have an Earth-ending Pokopia theory that may change the way you look at the games as a whole and what the future of Pokémon has to offer.  And let me be the first to say that going into this theory, I had some evidence that I wanted to work with to present. But, the more I researched the lore and studied previous games, there is way more than I originally had thought. So, let’s get into why it’s highly possible that Pokopia takes place in a long-abandoned world. Let’s begin with an amuse-bouche of Pokémon and animals, to whet your theorycrafting appetite Pokopia / The Pokémon Company Setting the stage for what the Pokémon world is and how it’s different from our own is pretty ...

A Rare Gem – Yooka Replaylee Review (PC)

Following the wave of many revival projects during Kickstarter’s early years, Yooka-Laylee from Playtonic promised a grand return to the style of 3D collectathon platformer many cherished from the N64 days. But despite much promise, the original release had a few issues. Years later, and after learning from projects like the fantastic Yooka-Laylee & The Impossible Lair, Playtonic is back at it again with Yooka-Replaylee, a ground-up remake of the original Yooka-Laylee. Using the original game as a base, Playtonic revisits the buddy duo’s Banjo-Kazooie-inspired first adventure. Does this golden jiggy complete the puzzle? Or is it a bad banana? After adventuring alongside Yooka and Laylee for many hours, I walked away excited for the buddy duo’s future 3D platforming adventures. ...
