Charlie Cox, Zooey Deschanel Lead Amazon Christmas Movie

Charlie Cox and Zooey Deschanel have a bone to pick with each other in the trailer for Amazon MGM Studios‘ romantic comedy feature Merv. Director Jessica Swale’s holiday film is set to begin streaming globally via Prime Video on Dec. 10. Chris Redd, Patricia Heaton and David Hunt round out the cast. Merv centers on Russ (Cox) and Anna (Deschanel), who realize that their breakup has taken its toll on their lovable pooch, Merv. This leads the pair to head to Florida over the holidays in hopes of lifting the dog’s spirits. “He hates beaches,” Deschanel says about the furry friend when she hears of the planned trip. This leads Cox to reply, “No, you hate beaches.” Swale helmed the movie from a script by Dane Clark and Linsey Stewart. Matthew Baer, Roma Dow...

SACRED LEATHER Debuts Music Video For New Single “Fallen Angel”

American Midwest heavy metallers Sacred Leather will release their new album Keep The Fire Burning on December 12, and today we are premiering the music video for their new single “Fallen Angel.” Bassist Magnus LeGrand said about the track: “When we wrote ‘Fallen Angel,’ it immediately felt like a callback to an era when metal songs had both hooks and teeth — something big, melodic, yet still dangerous. That track set the stage for what Keep the Fire Burning would become. Dee’s lyrics step inside Lucifer’s head, turning his fall from grace into something deeply human — the loneliness, the pride, and the weight of one’s own choices.” “Visually, I wanted the video to conjure the haunting, biblical imagery found in the lyrics themselves — smoke, fire, and mystery, all wrapped in that cl...

I’ve Got A Confession To Make: I Don’t Like This Perfect Game From 14 Years Ago

November 11, 2015, remains an important launch date for many gamers. That’s when The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim launched for Windows, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360. Developed by Bethesda Game Studios, the game was an instant smash. Earning rave reviews from critics and exceeding financial expectations, Skyrim was quickly heralded for the depth of its design and the strength of its overall execution. I’ve also never actually gotten to the ending of the game, because I give up during each attempted playthrough. There’s just something about the open-world approach of Skyrim that I don’t like. Even though I’ve adored games that took clear inspiration from Skyrim, I’ve had to spend the last 14 years explaining why I simply didn’t connect to one of gaming’s biggest hits. Don’t get me wrong, I’m...

13 Movie Remakes Better Than the Original

The two Ocean’s films play like different kinds of jazz: the 1960 original is cool, easy-listening — smooth, loose and just a little sloppy — while Steven Soderbergh’s 2001 remake is pure bebop, fast, tight, and meticulously arranged. Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin and Sammy Davis Jr. didn’t so much act in Ocean’s 11 as hang out. The Rat Pack ruled Vegas, and the film let them do exactly that, drift through scenes, trade jokes, croon a tune or two and look impossibly relaxed while pretending to rob five casinos at once. The heist was never really the point; the vibe was. Sinatra hated rehearsals and insisted on one-take scenes, which gives the movie its boozy, improvisational rhythm. Fun and charming, sure but often off-key and, in places, tone-deaf. (The humor, in particular, with its se...

25 Best PS2 Games of All Time

SOCOM US Navy Seals has a distinct honor in the PS2 library of being the first online PS2 game with voice chat. Voice chat, however, wasn't limited to playing online. In single-player mode, players take the role of the team leader of a squad of Navy Seals who have to complete missions by taking down terrorists and saving hostages. As a squad leader, you can order the computer-controlled teammate to move, attack a target, provide cover and other commands via your voice with the headset. The tech didn't always work, but it was an innovative mechanic for the time. Where the SOCOM US Navy Seals shone was in online play. It was the first time console players were able to play a tactical team-based game online, where two teams faced off in intense matches, and all it takes is one shot to put you...

Materialists Is An Undeniable Hit, But The Director Doesn’t Think Viewers Should Know It’s Popular

Materialists is a project on the 2025 movie schedule that caused quite a stir. While some Materialists' reviews (like ours) were very positive, others pointed out flaws, and online, there was a debate going on about the film. However, along with the “controversy” surrounding Celine Song’s romance has come a lot of success, and there’s no question that this A24 flick is a hit. The director doesn’t really want viewers to know that, though. Now, this movie made over $105 million globally at the box office, which is impressive, especially since its estimated budget was $20 million. Plus, according to THR, it’s one of this year’s highest-grossing original films. Now that it’s hit streaming, even more people are watching it, as its No. 1 place on HBO Max proves. However, Celine Song doesn’t reall...

Century pivots toward high-end business — CDC Gaming

Wall Street analysts were kept on a short leash during Century Casinos’s third-quarter earnings call. Discussion was terminated after 35 minutes. That discussion frequently centered on Century’s stated determination to refocus its business toward higher-value casino players. The company blamed low-end softness, in part, for recent financial disappointments. In the third quarter, according to co-CEO Peter Hoetzinger, high-level play was up eight percent, while lower-end action was down nine percent, flattening gross gaming revenues. Visitation followed a similar pattern. What accounted for the low-end softness? “It’s hard to say, but we believe it has to do with uncertainty around tariffs,” which usually manifests among lower-income cohorts (15 percent to 25 percent of Century’s customer ba...

I Watched Lacey Chabert’s Third Haul Out The Holly Movie On Hallmark, And I Nearly Missed The Mean Girls Reference

Hallmark’s Countdown to Christmas schedule is in full swing, with new sprinklings of holiday spirit premiering weekly through the end of the 2025 TV schedule. Lacey Chabert will, of course, be making a showing, starring in She’s Making a List in December. This year, however, she started a little early with another offering, Haul Out the Halloween. I watched the third installment of Chabert’s holiday series, and I was delighted to catch a Mean Girls reference.Lacey Chabert may be Hallmark’s Christmas queen, but she’ll likely never shake the role of Gretchen Wieners — her iconic character from 2004’s Mean Girls. The teen comedy is considered one of the best movies of the 2000s, and even two decades later, we’re still quoting Mean Girls every chance we get. I even caught what I'm convinced is...
