Benin’s eco-fashion star turns trash into runway art – DW – 11/12/2025

Roberto Zinli aka Président Djangoun, is a fashion designer and social media star in Beninwho turns waste into wearable art. Concerned about environmental degradation, he began recycling materials like plastic, metal, wood, and rubber – and especially aluminum cans – to create bold, upcycled fashion. His designs have reached runways in the capital Porto-Novo, and he teaches sustainable practices at fashion schools. Zinli also advocates for reusing non-biodegradable clothing to reduce pollution and carbon emissions. Source link

(Photo provided by Asemota) In mid-October, Germantown local Itohan Asemota announced on Instagram that her small business, HNI Collective, had been included in Billie Eilish’s Sustainable Fashion Guide, which accompanies the pop star’s ‘Hit Me Hard and Soft’ Tour on her website. “I thought it was a scam…” Asemota joked, giving GIH her initial reaction to learning the news. But she said the inclusion is a lesson to always be on your Ps and Qs because you “never really know who’s watching.” The guide allows folks at each participating tour city to engage in fashion more consciously in a curated selection of secondhand shops, sustainable brands, and community repair spaces. It was curated by BLACKPEARL, ...

8 fashion pieces people wear to appear wealthier than they actually are

There's a fascinating psychology behind how people use fashion to project financial success. Certain pieces have become universal shortcuts for signaling wealth, even when someone's bank account tells a different story. And honestly, you can't entirely blame people for playing this game. The perception of wealth opens doors, whether that's getting better service at a restaurant, commanding more respect in professional settings, or simply feeling more confident in social situations. We live in a world where looking successful often matters as much as actually being successful. After all, people who appear wealthier do receive preferential treatment in countless everyday interactions. They're taken more seriously in negotiations, given the benefit of the doubt in ambiguous situations, and as...

The Apple and Miyake iPhone Pocket. GUILLAUME LETELLIER FOR M LE MAGAZINE DU MONDE At first glance, it looks like a 3D-knitted rectangle, with straight lines and sharp corners. If you gravitate toward simplicity, these 8 fashion choices will always work in your favor

There’s a quiet kind of confidence that comes from dressing simply. It’s not about impressing anyone or keeping up with trends. It’s about ease that comes from knowing your wardrobe reflects who you are, not who you’re trying to be. I used to think style meant keeping up. Every season, I’d try something new, a print, a cut, a color, only to end up feeling like I was wearing someone else’s life. But the more I leaned into simplicity, the more I realized that calmness looks good on everyone. Here are eight fashion choices that seem to work, no matter your age, shape, or season of life. 1.
