Greece, N.Y. — With Thanksgiving just two weeks from tomorrow, the gift of generosity is needed for local families.The Fill an Ambulance food drive started in Greece on Wednesday at the Lakeshore Fire Station and will be at other firehouses across town on certain days through November 23.Anyone can stop by and donate non-perishable food for families in need.“There's a surplus of need everywhere,” said Audrey Kinsella of Monroe Ambulance. “There's kind of a lot of food drives going on, so we're fully supporting that as well. Greece faces reduced EU funds

[Reuters] Greece faces reduced funding from the European Union due to delays in paying 2024 agricultural subsidies, officials said.  The government was required to settle obligations to farmers by June 30, 2025, under EU rules. An updated action plan for restructuring the country’s agricultural payment agency, ΟPEKEPE, submitted six days ago, is currently under review by the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Agriculture and Rural Development (DG AGRI). Commission officials stressed the evaluation of the plan is not linked to 2025 subsidy payments.
