Maryville College $80 million science center, an investment to address campus maintenance concerns in the future

The Alexander Institute for Environmental Education and the Sciences is an $80 million investment approved by Maryville College President Dr. Bryan Coker, with large donations coming from the state of Tennessee and former U.S. Sen. Lamar Alexander. The project will replace the outdated and crumbling Sutton Science Center. However, students around campus have questioned the decision to build Sutton’s replacement, especially with increasing needs for maintenance to other old buildings on campus.  Students have reported water leaks, mold, and mushrooms, along with general wear and tear. So, why direct money into a new, costly building? College officials say it is the best course of action for the institution.  The first reason involves donations. The state of Tennessee has already gi...

PlayStation State of Play November 2025 live report – keep up with everything and pray for Bloodborne here

Happy Bloodborne remake day! Wait let's not get ahead of ourselves. Sony's delivering a State of Play broadcast this evening from 10pm UK time and we'll be covering all of the announcements, as they happen, right here in this article. It's like magic and it's very handy for if you're out but don't want to miss out. What's more - and as if you needed any encouragement - you can chat along with us. The show will be 40 minutes long and focus on PS5 games made in Japan and Asia, Sony said yesterday, "alongside a few other exciting updates". The PS5 is just turning five years old, incidentally, which could provide So...

Communicating with Your Cells: A Breakthrough in Science

In the rapidly advancing frontier of biomedical research, single-cell RNA sequencing has emerged as a transformative technology, offering unprecedented insights into gene expression patterns at an individual cell level. This granularity equips scientists with the ability to construct intricate maps of tissues, organs, and disease states, dissecting the cellular heterogeneity that defines biological function and pathology. However, interpreting these colossal datasets demands dual expertise: a profound understanding of biological systems and sophisticated computational skills to translate raw data into meaningful conclusions. Addressing this challenge, a pioneering team led by Christoph Bock at the CeMM Research Center for Molecular Medicine of the Austrian Academy of Sciences, in collabora...

New Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time LEGO Set For 2026 Looks to Feature Ganon

LEGO has teased a new Legend of Zelda set for 2026, featuring Link, Princess Zelda and... an ominous silhouette. A brief teaser video posted on social media today appears to recreate a scene from N64 classic The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, where Link and floating fairy Navi face down Ganon. Princess Zelda can also be seen in the background.🔥Do you realize who you're dealing with?#LEGOTheLegendofZelda pic.twitter.com/NCl84ydZ3a— Nintendo of America (@NintendoAmerica) November 11, 2025 Nintendo of America's social media account accompanied the clip with the tease: "Do you realize who you're dealing with?" This is further confirmation of Ganon's appearance, as the dialogue is part of a longer quote from Ganon in Ocarina of Time: "Pathetic little fool! Do you realize who you're dealing w...

STEM draws hundreds of kids to find the ‘wow’ in science

The question was simple, yet perplexing.  “Does anyone have a favorite chemical reaction?” Amy Novak, a Griffin Museum of Science and Industry scientist and educator, asked from the Percy Julian Middle School auditorium stage.  That elicited a mixed reaction. Okay, how about this?  “How many of you like explosions?” Novak said, and dozens of hands shot up … and not just youngsters.  “Would you enjoy it if I made a fire?” she went on, and that, if you’ll pardon the pun, broke the ice in Novak’s Fire & Ice Show at Saturday’s Fall Into STEM event, hosted by the Oak Park Education Foundation.  Novak and colleague Tanna Wieneke proceeded to do just that on stage – in a controlled manner, mind you – using a water cooler jug and a lighter. Later, the pair explained that at negati...

Pokémon Pokopia Gets March 2026 Release Date, Brand New Trailer Coming This Week

Image: The Pokémon CompanyPokémon Pokopia, the upcoming life-sim 'mon game developed by Koei Tecmo, launches on Switch 2 on 5th March 2026. It'll cost $69.99 / £58.99. Plus, on Thursday 13th November 2025 at 6am PST / 9am EST / 2pm BST, The Pokémon Company will be sharing a trailer for the 2026 Switch 2 exclusive (thanks, Gematsu!). There's a YouTube Premiere already lined up for the date on the Japanese YouTube channel. English trailers will probably be published shortly after the premiere begins. In somewhat related news, Nintendo has also published a trailer about Game-Key Cards, and this trailer seems to suggest that Pokopia will be a Game Key-Card release. It does say SAMPLE over the top of it, though, but that's probably for the key art... Image: Nintendo Revealed during the Septemb...

New HomePod Mini Coming Soon With These Features

Apple is expected to announce a new HomePod mini imminently, headlining with new chips. Here are all of the new features we're expecting. The second-generation ‌HomePod mini‌ is highly likely to contain a more up-to-date chip for more advanced computational audio and improved responsiveness. The current ‌HomePod mini‌ is equipped with the Apple Watch Series 5's S5 chip from 2019. Apple is likely to opt for the S9 chip, which was a considerable leap forward in terms of performance, or one of its derivatives such as the S10, which is a more compact iteration of the S9. The S5 chip in the ‌HomePod mini‌ is derived from Apple's A12 Bionic architecture but runs at lower clock speeds and is tuned for always-on, low-power operation, making it well-suited for tasks like Siri processing and real-t...

Scientists reinvent the aluminum wheel with 30 percent recycled metal

Researchers in Germany have set out to reinvent one of the most familiar parts of modern vehicles, the aluminum wheel, by developing a pioneering alloy that uses 30 percent recycled metal. The novel alloy, developed at the Dortmund University of Applied Sciences and Arts (FH Dortmund), is expected to significantly reduce the carbon emissions of aluminum wheels without compromising their performance or design. Led by the university’s Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, the innovative SUPA-Wheel project addresses the high energy costs associated with aluminum production. This is one of the automotive industry’s greatest sustainability challenges. “We are developing the perfect alloy for the wheel,” Wilhelm Harms, a research assistant at the faculty who’s driving the project forward ...
