3 overreactions as Knicks beat Mavericks due to controversial call

The Dallas Mavericks hosted the New York Knicks on Wednesday night, hoping to bounce back from a blowout loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves on Monday night. They'd have to do it without their top three players, as Cooper Flagg (illness), Anthony Davis (left calf strain), and Kyrie Irving (ACL surgery recovery) were all out. Meanwhile, the Knicks entered this game having yet to win a road game this season. They got Jalen Brunson back from a two-game absence, which gave them a big boost, as you'd expect. And this game didn't go the way anybody expected. The Mavericks entered as one of the worst three-point shooting teams in the NBA, while the Knicks entered as one of the best. In this game, it was the exact opposite. Dallas was red-hot from three while the Knicks couldn't hit the broadside o...

OKC Thunder sweeps Kings for season series as SGA, OKC improve to 15-1

The OKC Thunder unveiled a new look during its home game against the Sacramento Kings on Wednesday. It debuted its City Edition uniforms and matching court in what marked Native American Heritage Night. And plenty of fans inside Paycom Center followed suit by wearing the new threads. But at the end of the day, it was still the same Thunder team underneath that different appearance. The same reigning champions who've treated the rest of the league like target practice despite teams aiming to take them down. Source link

Warriors’ main threat to season’s hopes on display vs. Heat – NBC Sports Bay Area & California

It’s rare that an NBA team missing three starters can compete on the road with a team nearly invincible at home when it spends much of the game shooting as if blindfolded, ponderously dribbling into traffic and throwing up air balls. Yet the undermanned and profoundly defective Warriors were giving the Miami Heat all the smoke they could handle Wednesday, taking a 74-72 lead into the fourth quarter. Then came a disastrous turnover spree that beckoned a richly deserved 110-96 loss. Perhaps the most instructive element for the Warriors was that Jimmy Butler III, Stephen Curry, Draymond Green and Al Horford – veterans too often prone to distressing turnovers – all watched the fourth-quarter meltdown from the bench. They got an up-close look at a potential upset win spiral into a double-di...

Depleted Dubs fade late in loss to Heat – NBC Sports Bay Area & California

BOX SCORE The Warriors' failure to win Tuesday's game when their Big Three of Steph Curry, Jimmy Butler and Draymond Green all played, as well as veteran Al Horford, reared its ugly head Wednesday night in a 110-96 loss to the Miami Heat at the Kaseya Center.  The short-handed Warriors, without Curry, Butler, Green and Horford, gave it their all. A wide talent gap was too much to close as the Heat outscored them 38-22 in the fourth quarter. A makeshift starting five of Brandin Podziemski, Moses Moody, Will Richard, Gui Santos and Trayce Jackson-Davis had zero chemistry and cohesion to start the game. And how could they? The group had only played four minutes together in one game before Wednesday.  The starters weren’t discombobulated, because they couldn’t even be combobulated with th...

Why Kerr Could Change Starting Lineup

Without their three best players, the Golden State Warriors (9-8) couldn't muster enough offense in a 110-96 loss to the Miami Heat (9-6). The Warriors actually had the lead at the end of three quarters, but the Heat used a dominant fourth quarter to pull away. Pat Spencer had one of his best games as a pro, totaling 11 points, 13 assists and eight rebounds, but ultimately nobody could stop Norman Powell, who had 22 of his 25 points in the second half. Here are three takeaways from a game the Warriors played without Stephen Curry, Jimmy Butler, Draymond Green, Jonathan Kuminga and Al Horford. Richard's Scoreless Game Gives Kerr Tough Lineup DecisionWill Richard had been a revelation going into Wednesday. He had shot at least 50 percent in 13 of his 14 games. The one "bad" game was a 4-of-9...

Manchester United v Spurs is the Worst Europa League Final Ever

Premier League strugglers Spurs and Manchester United will contest the 2025 Europa League final today in Bilbao, Spain. The trophy has never been won by a team in such a lowly position in their league. For both teams, it represents a lifeline at the end of a miserable season, the chance not just for redemption but more importantly a coveted - and lucrative - spot in next season's Champions League.AdvertisementWin And Be Fired? The Man Utd board have indicated that Ruben Amorim will keep his job no matter the result. The same is unlikely to apply to Spurs' Ange Postecoglou. Asked about this Amorim said:“People, especially the board, understand that we have a lot of issues that in the context are really hard. I don’t know how to explain [why] the fans like me at this moment. It’s hard to expla...

Kings ‘frustrated’ amid longest skid since 2021-22 NBA season – NBC Sports Bay Area & California

Despite showing signs of improvement, the Kings matched their longest losing streak since the 2021-2022 NBA season after falling 113-99 to the Oklahoma City Thunder on Wednesday at Paycom Center.  Sacramento, without star big man Domantas Sabonis, extended its losing skid to seven games after a characteristic third-quarter collapse against the defending NBA champions. With a 3-12 record, the Kings are off to their worst start through 15 games since going 2-13 to start the 1990-91 season.  Coach Doug Christie pointed out marked corrections in terms of his team’s competitiveness but recognizes that the morale in his locker room remains relatively distressed.   “What I would say is frustrated. That’s probably the term I would use,” Christie told reporters after the loss. Yet again, the ...
