Celtics star Jaylen Brown isn’t holding back.
After police shut down an event tied to his performance brand, 741, at a private residence in Beverly Hills over All-Star Weekend, the four-time All-Star took his frustrations out on social media.
“I’m offended by Beverly Hills by the statement they put out, like we applied for something and didn’t get it, and we did it anyway [and] we were insubordinate,” Brown said, via BroBible. “I know how to follow the rules. I’m smart enough to follow the guidelines. It just seemed like somebody didn’t want whatever we had going on to go on because out of everybody that was doing something, it seemed like I was the only one that gets shut down.”.
The gathering, which took place at a Trousdale neighborhood home owned by Jim Jannard, was halted by the Beverly Hills Police Department. Authorities said organizers had applied for an event permit that was ultimately denied due to prior violations at the address — and that the event moved forward anyway.
The shutdown cost him roughly $300,000, Brown revealed on social media. He continued blasting the Beverly Hills on X/Twitter, calling it “so trash” and writing that he was offended after hosting what he described as a meaningful panel discussion about the future of culture.
“I’m offended,” he continued. “Had a great panel about the future of culture with great guest people(.) Worked hard for this(.) How dare yall(?)”
The episode drew reaction from media personality Jemele Hill, who wrote that Beverly Hills “selectively enforce all the time.” Brown amplified that sentiment by reposting her comment to his own page.
