‘We believe 100% that we can win it’published at 22:53 BST
FT: Sporting 0-1 Arsenal
Arsenal goalkeeper David Raya, speaking to Amazon Prime, on his early saves: “It’s something that I’m there for. I’m trying to help the team as much as possible in any single action, not just defending but commanding and on the ball.
“So delighted with myself performance and, of course, the win.”
On save from Araujo: “I think that’s a turning moment. It was a quick transition from them, great strike but I managed to get a fingertip to it to hit the bar. It’s one of those moments that can change games.”
On seventh Champions League clean this season: “That’s something we’ve worked on a lot. It’s so important for us, those clean sheets make it easier to win games. It showed tonight, scoring in the last minute and keeping that clean sheet decides those type of games.”
On difference between 0-0 and 1-0: “I think everything. Coming here we knew it would be so, so difficult, especially with the run they’ve come from and we knew it was going to be a tough battle.
“It really was but scoring in the last minute was so important to go ahead at half-time of the tie. But now our heads are on Saturday.”
On goalkeeper’s mentality: “You have to be focused no matter what you’re doing, whether you’re touching the ball or not.
“That’s something I’ve worked on over the years, you learn from previous situations where your head maybe goes and you’re not ready. I try to be ready as much as possible during the game with some tricks to keep my mind focused on the ball.”
On if Arsenal can win the Champions League: “We believe 100% that we can win it. We go game by game and show what we can do. I think it is the first time in so many years that we play three quarter-finals in a row. So we just have to focus on the present, that’s the most important thing, but of course we have full belief.
“If you don’t believe then you’re never going to win it.”
On key to getting over the line: “Just being ourselves. Try to go back to what we are. We’ve come from two losses, learn from those moments, that pain when you lose a game.”Use that pain in the belly to go out there and express yourself, be yourself and try to be better every single day. That’s the main message we have to send out there.”
