Churchill Downs opens gaming venue in southwestern KY


CALVERT CITY, Ky. — The newest property from Churchill Downs Inc. officially opened Wednesday.

Marshall Yards Racing & Gaming in southwestern Kentucky opened its doors to the public. It is the eighth historical horse racing and entertainment venue in the state for CDI.

The 23,000-square-foot venue features 225 historical racing machines, a sportsbook, simulcast wagering and plenty of food and drinks.

According to a release from CDI, the new historical racing machine (HRM) entertainment venue is expected to provide purse funding for the Oak Grove Racing, Gaming & Hotel’s racing meet in Oak Grove, Kentucky.

“We are setting a new pace for growth as we expand CDI’s footprint in southwestern Kentucky,” said Bill Carstanjen, CEO of CDI. “Marshall Yards reflects our vision to build destination experiences that generate local economic opportunities, inspire regional tourism, and secure our place at the forefront of racing and entertainment.”

CDI’s other Kentucky HRM venues are Derby City Gaming, Derby City Gaming Downtown, Ellis Park Racing & Gaming, Newport Racing & Gaming, Oak Grove Racing & Gaming, Owensboro Racing & Gaming, and Turfway Park Racing & Gaming.
