Clear Creek ISD opens applications for science magnet, dual language programs

Clear Creek ISD elementary and intermediate students can now apply for Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics, or STEM, and dual language programs across the district, according to the district’s website.

Applications for the Science Magnet Program at Brookside and Seabrook Intermediate schools close Jan. 23, while the Dual Language Program for incoming kindergarteners at Brookwood, Landolt, League City, McWhirter and Stewart elementary schools remains open through March 1.

The overview

The Science Magnet Program is a three-year, science-focused curriculum open to all CCISD intermediate students.

Along with core classes, students take hands-on STEM electives and participate in real-world experiences through partnerships with organizations such as the Armand Bayou Nature Center, Galveston Bay Foundation and Johnson Space Center, according to the district’s website.

The application window will be open from Dec. 1-Jan. 23. Students do not need to live in the schools’ attendance zones to apply, according to the district’s website.

Each campus accepts 100 students per grade level, with acceptance letters emailed at the end of January. Interested in-district families should plan to apply during their child’s fifth-grade year, according to the district’s website.

There are two parent information meetings and campus tours scheduled:

  • Seabrook Intermediate: Jan. 12, 5:15-6:30 p.m.
  • Brookside Intermediate: Jan. 14, 5:15-6:30 p.m.

What else?

The Dual Language Program is a full-day program for incoming kindergarten students in which both native English and Spanish speakers receive instruction together in both languages to promote bilingualism, academic achievement and cross-cultural understanding, according to the district’s website.

The program is offered at Brookwood, Landolt, League City, McWhirter and Stewart elementary schools, as well as Bayside, Clear Creek and Clear Lake intermediate schools. Students may apply even if they live outside the campus zones.

English-speaking students may enter the Dual Language Program in either kindergarten or another grade level if they meet the entry criteria for that grade level.

The 2026-2027 Dual Language application for incoming kindergarten students will be open until 3:45 p.m. on March 1, 2026.
