The commercial finance community is mourning the loss of Roderick Knoll, CLFP, a prominent industry leader and Immediate Past President of the American Association of Commercial Finance Brokers (AACFB). Knoll passed away on Feb. 14, 2026, following a battle with cancer.
Knoll was a highly regarded figure in the equipment finance sector, known for his commitment to education, integrity and professional standards. He had been an active member of the AACFB Board of Directors since 2020, serving in various executive roles including Secretary/Treasurer before ascending to the presidency.
During his tenure as Treasurer, Knoll became well-known for his enthusiastic reports on the association’s fiscal health, often highlighting the organization’s debt-free status. Beyond his administrative duties, colleagues remember him as a mentor and collaborator who worked to advance the interests of independent brokers and lenders nationwide.
“Roderick was a passionate advocate for professionalism,” the AACFB noted in a statement following his passing. “His steady leadership left a lasting impact on the association and on the many members who had the privilege of working alongside him.”
The AACFB encourages everyone to learn more about Knoll by viewing his 2022 interview for the AACFB’s Front and Center segment and by watching this short video showing his love for his AACFB friends through the years.
A Celebration of Life service is scheduled to be held in Golden, CO, next week. The family has requested that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made in Knoll’s memory to the Cancer Support Community, an organization dedicated to providing support and resources to those affected by cancer.
