Concert to feature Revolutionary War-era songs and music April 11

Groome Church will host the Ampersand Trio in a free concert open to the community at 7 p.m., Saturday, April 11, at 601 Savannah Road, Lewes.

Celebrating the nation’s 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, the concert includes songs and music from the nation’s Revolutionary War era.

The Rev. Dr. S. Willard Crossan III, Groome pastor, said, “We are incredibly pleased to present this special Ampersand program, Music of the New Nation, focused on what our young nation faced and experienced in its battle for independence. The songs are both stirring and informing while providing a musical narrative of the revolution. Groome’s congregation extends its thanks to the talented Ampersand Trio for bringing their vocal harmonies and joy to enrich our lives and help us celebrate Lewes 250’s yearlong series of events to honor the American Revolution and how it shaped our much-loved First Town in the First State.”

Mary Alice Kelly, Lewes 250 committee chair, said, “We greatly appreciate Groome Church and all the committee sponsors – both organizations and individuals – and terrific volunteers for creating, supporting and making possible the many events and programs to commemorate and celebrate the July 4, 1776 signing of the Declaration of Independence and founding of our country.”
