During New York Fashion Week, entrepreneur and philanthropist Consuelo Vanderbilt Costin honored acclaimed designer Naeem Khan with the Excellence in Fashion Design Award at the Global Talent Recognition Ceremony held at Sony Hall. The event, held last month, was part of the Runway 7 Fashion programming, which highlights influential creatives and emerging talent from around the world.

The award recognized Khan’s outstanding contributions to the fashion industry and celebrated more than two decades of design excellence. Known for his intricate eveningwear and luxurious embellishments, Khan has built a reputation for blending the rich artistry of his Indian heritage with timeless, elegant silhouettes.

Throughout his career, Khan has dressed a number of high-profile figures across politics, royalty, and entertainment. His designs have been worn by former First Lady Michelle Obama, Queen Noor of Jordan, and Catherine, Princess of Wales, among many others. A longtime member of the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA), Khan remains one of the most respected names in luxury fashion.

Costin presented the honor during the ceremony, praising Khan’s creative vision and the global influence of his work. The Global Talent Recognition Ceremony serves as a platform to spotlight designers whose work continues to shape the fashion landscape while inspiring future generations of creatives.

Beyond the stage, Costin herself is a multifaceted entrepreneur whose career spans music, fashion, and business. A descendant of the historic Vanderbilt family, she has established herself as a singer, songwriter, actress, and business leader. Her music career has taken her around the world, performing alongside artists such as Vanessa Carlton, Mya, and Joe Cocker. Several of her singles have landed in the Billboard Top 20, including the chart-topping tracks “Naked” and “Feel So Alive.”

In addition to music, Costin has expanded her influence into fashion and entrepreneurship. She launched the jewelry line Homage by Consuelo Vanderbilt Costin with HSN and founded SohoMuse, a professional networking platform designed specifically for creatives working across industries.

Her most recent venture, The House of Vanderbilt, focuses on inspiring and mentoring the next generation of global leaders through business and cultural initiatives.

The New York Fashion Week ceremony highlighted not only Khan’s enduring legacy in fashion design but also the ongoing collaboration between creative visionaries working to shape the future of the industry.
