Dallas Mavericks rookie Cooper Flagg kept the momentum going on Sunday in a home matchup against LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers.
Flagg is coming off an awe-inspiring performance on Friday against the Orlando Magic, dropping a career-high 51 points in Dallas’ 138-127 loss.
Flagg has been on a heater for the Mavs of late, and he kept his foot on the gas against the Lakers on Sunday. He went off in the first half, scoring 26 points on 9-of-16 shooting, to go along with five rebounds, four assists, three steals, one block and two three-pointers in just 20 minutes of action.

Flagg did not let up after the break. He scored his 30th point in the third quarter, allowing him to rewrite the NBA history books yet again.
The Mavericks took to social media to announce Flagg’s latest career milestone.
“Cooper Flagg has produced his fifth career 30-5-5 game tonight vs. LAL. He has passed Luka Dončić (4) for the 2nd-most 30-5-5 games by a teenager in NBA history. LeBron James (11) has the most,” Mavs PR posted on X.
It is interesting to note that Flagg passed Mavs legend and current Lakers star Luka Doncic for the second-most 30-5-5 games by a teenager. The narrative becomes even more compelling now that Flagg is ranked second behind the all-time 30-5-5 teenage leader, LeBron James.
The Mavs’ announcement also indicates that Flagg has more 30-5-5 games than the entire rookie class combined. This further strengthens his claim for the Rookie of the Year title in what has become a tight race against Kon Knueppel of the Charlotte Hornets.
It’s a close game in Dallas on Sunday night. As of writing, it’s Flagg and Co. who are up 105-96 with 32.0 seconds remaining in the third quarter. Flagg already has 36 points, six rebounds and eight assists.
