Council to review budget amendments, finances, personnel issues and Local News Day at Tuesday, April 7 meeting


Two Edmonds City Council meetings are scheduled this week.

At its April 7 business meeting, the council will look at four proposed 2026 budget amendments, review personnel changes in light of recent budget cuts, learn more about an upcoming sewer project, and proclaim April 9 Local News Day, which celebrates the power of local news in local communities. 

Representatives for all Edmonds news organizations will be present including My Edmonds News, the Daily Herald, the Edmonds Beacon and Se Habla Media, which provides Spanish-language broadcasts.

The proposed budget amendments were discussed at the council’s March 18 finance committee meeting. They include money for the Edmonds Marsh as the marsh awaits grant approval, $60,000 for a park impact fee study that brings the City into state compliance on fees, and a $21,000 increase in IT costs due to rising software and equipment expenses.

The meeting will begin at 6 p.m. in the Council chambers, Public Safety Complex, 250 5th Ave. N., Edmonds.

Council study session Wednesday, April 8

The Council at its Wednesday, April 8 study session review Robert’s Rules of Order, the required parliamentary process for City meetings. Councilmembers will also discuss a “Coffee with Council” proposal.
