Daisy Edgar-Jones lands next lead movie role in adaptation of “magnificent” bestseller

Normal People star Daisy Edgar-Jones has been cast in the film adaptation of Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, Gabrielle Zevin’s best-selling novel. The story centres on friends Sadie and Sam, who meet in childhood and eventually work together in the video game business.

According to Variety, Edgar-Jones will play Sadie, with Siân Heder, who wrote and directed the Oscar-winning CODA, at the helm and also writing the screenplay. No further cast announcements have been made.

The synopsis for Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow reads: “When Sam catches sight of Sadie at a crowded train station one morning he is catapulted straight back to childhood, and the hours they spent immersed in playing games.

“Their spark is instantly reignited and sets off a creative collaboration that will make them superstars. It is the ’90s, and anything is possible. What comes next is a decades-long tale of friendship and rivalry, fame and art, betrayal and tragedy, perfect worlds and imperfect ones. And, above all, our need to connect: to be loved and to love.”

Zevin’s novel, which was published in 2022, has sold over four million copies worldwide. In 2024, it was ranked #76 on the New York Times‘ list of the 100 best books of the 21st century.

The rights to Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow were purchased by Paramount Pictures and Temple Hill Entertainment in 2021, before the book was published. Heder signed on to direct in 2024 and collaborated with Mark Bomback on early screenplay drafts.

Upon its release, the novel received acclaim from critics and fans, with The Independent saying Zevin had “delivered a literary blockbuster destined to be filed in the Great American Novel category”.

The Guardian called it: “an artfully balanced novel – charming but never saccharine,” adding: “The world Zevin has created is textured, expansive and, just like those built by her characters, playful.”

There’s no release date yet for the film adaptation of Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow.
