Data and rights management platform OpenPlay launches Connect App Exchange marketplace | Publishing


Asset, data and rights management platform OpenPlay has commercially launched the OpenPlay Connect App Exchange.

In a statement, OpenPlay said the OpenPlay Connect App Exchange is a “fully transactional B2B marketplace bringing structure, interoperability, and standardized transactions to a historically fragmented music services economy”.

Through Connect, distributors, labels and publishers operating on OpenPlay’s catalogue and rights management platform can execute commercial engagements and exchange data with leading providers, including BeatBread, Beatdapp, Cosynd, FaroLatino, Habitat Financial, Harmix, LyricFind, Matter Collective, Muserk, Music Story, Musixmatch, MySeat Media, Vobile, and Sureel.ai.

“Connect launches at a pivotal moment for the global music industry,” added the statement. “Creator output continues to accelerate, AI deployment is expanding rapidly, and new distribution and monetisation models are reshaping the ecosystem. Labels and publishers now require an expanding range of specialised services to effectively deliver, track, manage, protect and optimise the value and revenues of their catalogues.”

OpenPlay estimates the total addressable market for music’s B2B services economy to be worth up to $25 billion.

Connect is also designed as an operating layer for technical and financial interoperability across the modern music services economy.

Participating providers span a wide range of categories, including audio and video creation, metadata enrichment, track stemming, lyrics transcription, song registration, marketing tools, sync tagging, direct-to-fan (D2F), UGC protection, revenue recovery, licence compliance, royalty processing, and more.

Connect launches today (March 9) within OpenPlay’s label and publisher community. It will expand later this year as white-label, custom branded versions of Connect App Exchange for distributors and publishing administrators worldwide.

The launch of OpenPlay Connect App Exchange follows a multi-million-dollar strategic investment round led by industry veteran Tracy Maddux and the roll-out of OpenPlay Reach, which supports real-time delivery of music and video releases to major and independent distributors and supply chains.
