MARQUETTE, Mich. (WLUC) – April is National Financial Awareness Month, and the Michigan Department of Treasury has a new resource for Michiganders.
The state launched a new website called MIMoneyMatters.org — part of a new financial literacy campaign.
The website includes informational videos, interactive tools, and free articles covering topics like credit, banking, and financial planning. The first step to using the site is to learn your money personality. MI Dept. of Treasury SAFE Bureau Director, Robin Lott, says it’s about saving for your future.
“You work hard for your money, remember that song? You work hard for the money, so, be a good steward of your money for your future financial security, because, at the end of the day, if we live long enough, we’re going to hope and pray that we have enough to have a nice retirement,” Lott said.
Beginning with the class of 2028, all high school students will be required to complete a personal finance course to graduate.
The video above will feature the TV6 livestream until staff can clip the corresponding story, if available, from broadcasts or other TV6 content. You can subscribe to our YouTube page or download TV6+ to stream the latest local news and weather.
