Desire and Decay in Fashion”

The Barbican’s exhibition Dirty Looks: Desire and Decay in Fashion examines the industry’s enduring fascination with grime, disorder and distressed aesthetics, featuring work from more than 60 designers.

Rebellious bodies, radical fashion and joyful disruption sit at the centre of the accompanying Dirty Weekend programme, which takes the exhibition’s core ideas and dials them up, celebrating sex, sweat, protest and pleasure through performance, conversation and community.

Among the highlights is designer Di Petsa’s first-ever play. Her piece, Wet Brides Rebirth, debuts a new Bridal capsule worn by performers including CEVAL, Xiaoqiao and Genevieve Welsh. Drawing on Ancient Greek fertility rites, the work blends movement, poetry and transformative garments to explore rebirth, intimacy and desire.
