Huge crowds packed the Buffalo Museum of Science as Dino Fest returned with hands‑on activities, dig pits, and build‑your‑own experiences.
BUFFALO, N.Y. — Families traveled back in time to prehistoric days this weekend as Dino Fest drew large crowds to the Buffalo Museum of Science, offering hands-on dinosaur-themed activities and educational programming.
The event featured more than two dozen interactive experiences, including oversized dinosaur dig pits and opportunities for visitors to build their own dinosaurs. Museum officials said attendance surged this year, with more than 3,700 people passing through the doors by noon during the weekend, surpassing last year’s totals.
Gary Siddall of the Buffalo Museum of Science said the event is designed to inspire curiosity while connecting visitors with educational content.
“We come at you with some really inspiring content that gets you excited, and then we get to chase it down with all of this great content, all of this great knowledge that our staff can help you digest. And it’s those moments that have a huge impact on the community. They shape people’s careers, they shape people’s professions, and they expose people to new areas of interest that they may not have even known before,” Siddall said.
Organizers said the strong turnout led to an expansion of Dino Fest to two days this year in response to growing public demand, allowing more families to take part in the event’s prehistoric-themed activities and exhibits.
