Discover the joy of music at Magnolia’s Leading Note Studios, where every student can shine

The room hums with piano keys, the strum of a guitar, and the laughter of students discovering new skills. At Leading Note Studios, music isn’t just taught—it’s lived.

Music lovers of all ages now have a new space to explore their passion, learn instruments and express themselves. After years of building a thriving community in California, owner Camille Hastings and her team have brought their expertise and energy to Magnolia, inviting the local community to join in the music.

A lifelong music journey

For Hastings, music has always been more than notes on a page; it’s a way of life. Her journey began at seven with piano lessons and quickly expanded to voice, flute and musical theater.

“I’ve loved music my whole life; it’s how I express myself, connect with others and bring joy to the world,” Hastings said.

After years teaching at Nashville’s Jan Williams School of Music, she realized her dream of creating a studio that blends professional instruction with a supportive, community-focused environment. Her first two in California grew steadily, navigating the challenges of 2020 with creativity and determination. Now, with the Magnolia location, Hastings brings her passion and expertise to a new Texas community, inviting students of all ages to discover the joy of music.

Tailored private lessons

At Leading Note Studios, every lesson is customized to match a student’s learning style.

Lessons start at 30 minutes, with options for 45- and 60-minute sessions. Students can schedule weekly sessions for consistent progress.

Hastings and her team teach various instruments, ensuring every student can pursue their passions.

Guest instructors frequently join classes, providing fresh perspectives and helping students explore new techniques.

“Every student is unique, and music should fit them, not the other way around,” Hastings said. “We want students to feel excited and empowered every time they sit at an instrument.”

From studio to stage

In addition to private lessons, students can join Saturday workshops that spark creativity, teamwork, and exploration. The workshops include:

  • Rock band sessions
  • Choir classes
  • Musical theater
  • Introductory lessons
  • Piano sessions

Students are encouraged to share their music with the community. Recitals are held twice a year, and they can perform at local events, coffeehouses and retirement homes. Adults can enjoy the Wine and Keys recitals, where they play, socialize and celebrate music in a relaxed, supportive setting.

Give the gift of music

This holiday season, Leading Note Studios invites families to share the joy of music. Through the Founders Program, the first 100 students receive:

  • A free lesson in their second month.
  • No annual registration fee
  • A founder’s gift

The studio also offers holiday gift bags, including:

  • Four or eight free lessons certificate
  • Music retail certificate
  • Holiday small gifts and treats
  • Instruments: kazoo and recorder
  • Annual registration voucher

“Music is a gift that grows with the person receiving it,” Hastings said. “Give it to a curious child, a friend seeking a new hobby or a loved one ready to explore a passion. Anyone can discover the joy of making music.”
