The Warriors currently are on a three-game losing streak that includes two disappointing defeats to the Utah Jazz and the Chicago Bulls, who have a combined 47 wins during the 2025-26 NBA season.
Both contests went down to the wire, with Golden State’s 130-124 loss to Chicago going to overtime. A costly mistake by Draymond Green at the end of regulation forced that game to be decided in extra minutes, which eventually led to the Warriors’ 33rd loss of the season.
While Golden State’s coach Steve Kerr shouldered blame for putting Green in a tough spot, the one-time NBA Defensive Player of the Year took accountability for his late foul on Bulls center Jalen Smith with a two-point lead and one second remaining.
“Unfortunately, I feel like against the Bulls, I let my team down,” Green said on “The Draymond Green Show.” “Something that was completely in my control or our control, but s–t happens, and we got to move on. And we got the Timberwolves coming in, and you just got to figure it out.”
During the play, Green made contact by placing his hand on Smith as he was catching a pass from Josh Giddey with the clock ticking down. Although the foul was called before Smith’s upward shooting motion, the Bulls were in the bonus. Smith then made both free throws to tie the game and force overtime.
Green also expressed his frustrations with failing to secure wins against losing teams such as the Jazz and the Bulls.
“We just got to figure it out, man,” Green added. “I think for us, you know, when you’re missing all that we’re missing, you honestly just want to give yourself a chance. But then also, like some games, you can still win, but you just want to give yourself a chance every night. Sometimes it works out, sometimes it doesn’t. [It] hasn’t worked out the last couple of nights.”
The Warriors announced on Wednesday that star guard Steph Curry will be re-evaluated in another 10 days after already missing Golden State’s last 15 games due to patellofemoral pain syndrome in his knee.
With 17 games remaining and a record below .500 without its franchise player, Golden State will have a tough hill to climb with the regular season coming to a close and the NBA playoffs approaching.
