Dwight Howard files for divorce after wife’s shocking accusations

It’s over for Dwight Howard and wife Amber Rose Howard.

The 2020 NBA champion filed for divorce from the rapper and reality star on Monday, stating the union is “irretrievably broken,” according to documents obtained by TMZ.

Monday’s filing came on the heels of shocking allegations made by Amber, who claimed in a recent social media video that Child Protective Services had gotten hold of his daughter, TMZ reported Monday, noting they had not yet heard back from Howard over the validity of the accusations.

It’s been a rollercoaster for the couple in recent months.

Amber, who goes by the name of Amy Luciani, filed for divorce last July just six months after tying the knot. She called the marriage “irretrievably broken” following their January 2025 nuptials.

On Monday, the same day Howard, 40, filed for divorce, Amber also filed, but his documents were processed first, per TMZ.

The eight-time NBA All-Star has “demanded exclusive use of his Georgia mansion,” although the pair is still cohabitating, the outlet reported.

Georgia police had been called to the residence three times in the last two weeks, “including for a suicide threat call, a domestic incident and a theft report,” TMZ reported Monday.

The first-overall pick by the Magic in 2004, Howard also played for the Lakers, Rockets, Hawks, Hornets, Wizards and Sixers, and earned the title of Defensive Player of the Year three times.

He last played for the Lakers during the 2021-22 season and spent 2022-23 with the Taoyuan Leopards of the Taiwan Professional Basketball League.

Howard was enshrined in the Basketball Hall of Fame in 2025.
