Greece is set for a notable weather shift over the Easter holiday period, with forecasts pointing to improving conditions and warmer temperatures just in time for Sunday celebrations.
According to weather projections, the country will experience a mix of localized rain, wind and cloud cover in the days leading up to Easter Sunday, before a return to clear skies and spring-like warmth.
Unsettled start to the holiday period
On Thursday, brief localized showers are expected mainly in the northeastern regions, while most other parts of the country will see partly cloudy conditions.
Winds will continue to blow from the northwest across much of Greece, reaching strong levels in parts of the Aegean Sea. Temperatures are expected to remain mild, ranging between 18°C and 23°C in most areas.
Although a slight drop in temperature is forecast for Friday, conditions are expected to remain relatively stable and seasonally normal.
Clouds and local rain before clearing
On Good Friday, cloud cover will increase, with the possibility of rain in northeastern areas extending into parts of central and eastern Greece.
The unsettled pattern continues into Holy Saturday, when cloudiness and scattered showers may affect several regions, including parts of northern Greece, central mainland areas and sections of the Aegean. However, conditions are expected to gradually improve by the afternoon.
Sunshine returns for Easter Sunday
Weather conditions are forecast to improve significantly on Easter Sunday, with clear skies expected across the country.
Temperatures will begin to rise again, reaching 26°C to 28°C in some areas, while winds are expected to shift direction, turning to southerly flow and reinforcing the warming trend.
The improved weather is expected to continue into Easter Monday, maintaining mild and pleasant conditions suitable for outdoor gatherings and traditional celebrations.
With rain clearing and temperatures climbing, forecasters say Easter Sunday is shaping up to offer favorable conditions for church services, family meals and outdoor festivities.
