Egor Dëmin’s rookie season in the NBA has come to a premature end.
The Brooklyn Nets guard and BYU product has been ruled out for the remainder of the season with “increased plantar fasciitis in his left foot,” according to a report Monday from Brian Lewis of the New York Post.
Dëmin, who has not played since Feb. 27, had previously dealt with plantar fasciitis during the preseason.

In 52 games since being selected with the No. 8 pick in last year’s NBA draft, Dëmin made 45 starts for the Nets and averaged 10.3 points, 3.2 rebounds and 3.3 assists per game.
Dëmin’s 3-point shooting proved impressive during his debut campaign, hitting 38.1% of his shots from behind the arc to rank first among Brooklyn players and 51st in the NBA.
During his lone season at BYU, the Russia native earned All-Big 12 Honorable Mention honors by averaging 10.6 points, 5.5 assists and 3.9 rebounds per game while helping the Cougars reach their first Sweet 16 since 2011.
According to Lewis, Dëmin should “return to basketball activity early in the offseason and be a full participant in the summer development program.”
