Emily Ratajkowski’s walk for Gucci at Milan Fashion Week has the internet divided

Milan Fashion Week is underway, and the most famous models in the world are walking the runways for the biggest brands. Emily Ratajkowski was one of the beauties strutting her stuff, and while she looked stunning in a body-hugging silver dress, her walk has become one of the most dissected runway moments online this season.

The 34-year-old wore a crystal-covered silver bodycon dress paired with embellished heels, diamond earrings, and a matching purse, leaning fully into high-gloss glamour.

She wore a slick, sculpted updo, bold smoky eye, and sharply defined face-framing strands. Once clips of Ratajkowski’s walk surfaced online, the unsolicited opinions came fast.

A video shared by Dazed Fashion came with brutal and somewhat clever comments. The top comments on the post read, “When you need to pretend that you’re not drunk,” and “GTA coded.”

Other critics wrote, “When one of your heels breaks and you still have to get home,”  and “Love her, but this isn’t a runway walk.” It’s also filled with gifs from America’s Next Top Model, including Tyra Banks’ infamous “I was rooting for you, we were all rooting for you! How dare you?”

Emrata shared a clip on her own Instagram, which drew more criticism. “Constructively, I feel as if I’m watching a model walk in heels with the essence of walking in trainers. There’s a disconnect for me personally, but it doesn’t subtract from how stunning you look, and honestly, had a trainer been paired with the dress (I know, shock horror, unheard of), I think this would have ATE. Don’t rip me apart, she looks stunning, and it’s just an opinion,” reads the top comment.

Thankfully, there is some positive feedback, and plenty of fire and heart-eyed emojis in the post. “Gorgeous dress! Owning that runway,” Beauty in Motion” and “The most beautiful of all” read some of the words from people giving her grace.

The appearance marked Gucci’s first show under new artistic director Demna, formerly of Balenciaga. In show notes, he said his vision for Gucci is “built around a sense of pragmatism.’’ He said he wanted his Gucci “to become lighter, softer, more refined, more elaborate, more emotional, even senseless sometimes. I don’t want Gucci to be intellectual, but I want Gucci to be a feeling.”

Demna hasn’t been able to dodge criticism either. “Demna playing it safe at Gucci was not on my bingo card. bringing celebrities to the runway won’t make the clothes stronger. he is at his best when he builds his own universe ( not ruining it like it was with B ) here it just feels… restrained. and safe is not what gucci needs, one person wrote on Instagram.
