The Environmental Science Center (ESC) in Burien is recruiting volunteers for its returning Seahurst Beach Naturalist program this spring and summer.
Volunteers will serve as beach naturalists at Seahurst Park during select low tides between April and August 2026.
The program is designed to engage park visitors, answer questions and help people explore our local marine habitat safely.
The center is seeking volunteers who have a passion for the marine ecosystem and an interest in inspiring a love of science, Puget Sound and lifelong stewardship in the community.
- No prior experience is required.
- Volunteers must be at least 15-years-old to participate independently.
- Youth ages 10 to 14 may volunteer with a caregiver.
- All new and prospective volunteers are required to attend a one-hour New Volunteer Orientation in March.
“By volunteering with ESC, you have the power to spark change and inspire stewardship in others,” organizers said. “Explore our opportunities to see how your efforts can make a lasting impact on our community and the planet.”
Registration information is available at:
Questions and requests for accommodations can be directed to the center’s Community Engagement Director at katy@environmentalsciencecenter.org.
The Seahurst Beach Naturalist program brings trained volunteers to the shoreline to help visitors learn about tide pools and the marine life of Puget Sound during some of the lowest tides of the year.
