Fernandez’s Chelsea future in doubt
The Argentina midfielder had spoken of his desire to move to Madrid at some point, and will now miss games against Port Vale and Manchester City.
”Liam Rosenior’s side host Port Vale of League One in Saturday’s FA Cup quarter-final tie before playing Manchester City in the Premier League eight days later, on April 12.
”The Chelsea head coach confirmed his decision during a press conference on Friday, stating Fernandez had ”crossed the line” with his comments.
”The midfielder’s contract at Stamford Bridge runs through until the summer of 2032. He recently switched representatives to a new agency featuring compatriot and former PSG attacking midfielder Javier Pastore.”
Rashford future remains unclear
Marcus Rashford is yet to secure a clear way through to a permanent move to Barcelona.
Beyond Barcelona’s own wishes, Manchester United’s lack of a permanent manager also leaves the squad planning unclear at Old Trafford.
”Rashford has very much been a squad player given the quality that exists in Barcelona’s frontline.
”Rashford is hoping to convince Barcelona to pay the £26 million fee that would make his loan move permanent.
”His future at Old Trafford remains unclear and a possible return would leave him in limbo, especially with no long-term manager in place as of yet.”
Man City prepare for summer action
”The i Paper understands they also admire Bournemouth’s Andoni Iraola, which could explain his lingering reluctance to commit to a new contract on the south coast.
”But the club’s No. 1 wish – and their clear preference – would be for Guardiola to stay and complete the rebuild job that began in 2024 when they erred in the transfer market after winning the Champions League.
”The intention is to strengthen again in the summer, with City firmly in pole position to sign Nottingham Forest’s Elliot Anderson ahead of city rivals United. They also want a right-back and have carried out checks on Brentford’s impressive Italy Under-21 international Michael Kayode.”

Low closes in on Ghana job
Former Germany boss Joachim Low is poised for a return to international football management, according to the Daily Mail.
Reports in Germany suggest that the German is closing in on a switch to take over Ghana for the World Cup.
”The Black Stars have been left without a manager just 75 days before their first World Cup group game with Panama on June 18, after the nation’s football bosses sacked Otto Addo following a dire run of four defeats in a row.
”Ghana, who are in England’s group, were beaten 2-1 by Germany in Stuttgart on Monday night, having been thrashed 5-1 by Austria on Friday. That followed defeats by Japan and South Korea in their November friendlies.
”But it seems Ghana’s crisis may now be over, with reports from the country suggesting that Low, who won the World Cup with Germany in 2014, is set to take over.
”The 66-year-old is expected to sign a short-term deal as manager, worth €150,000 (£131,000) per month. The deal will end after the World Cup.”
