Glitchy but driving broken beats are what’s for dinner. Hannover’s tilde (~) is a font of knowledge on topics from Pd/plugdata to Bitwig Studio Grid FX to mixing and mastering. And those skills translate to some genius grooves. Listen up to this full-power montage of all original music.
This mix is really by far one of my favorites lately. Let’s call it the Mix of the Month for February, even if that gives me a sinking suspicion I’ll forget to name a mix in March. You’ll thank me.
Just some tea and FFTs, hanging by the window like a cat.
Also downloadable on Bandcamp, and then you can dive from there:
Listen, the tilde is an exotic character here in the land of Brezeln and the QWERTZ keyboard, as I discovered the hard way the very first time I tried to teach a Pd class. (It’s “Alt Gr” and “+”, for future reference.)
But you should also go check tilde’s full resume, with goodies like five free Grid FX for Bitwig Studio or a freeware/pay what you can transient design toolkit for plugdata/Pd.
Hell, yeah. I can kind of rock out to this demo video:
And there’s just a lot more there, too, like bits of glass and Phaseplant and Arturia Pigments stuff and breaks and all the other raw materials you hear in the music.
And if this is getting you interested, you can take tilde’s courses and learn some of those skills yourself.
There are also some interesting conversations evolving with the communities following this artist. Lately, ~ has been doing some fascinating informal surveys, which I’ve been following on BlueSky:
67% of the sound designers & music makers polled long for more IRL connections with fellow sound artists.
If you were thinking about starting a local group, meetup or event, this may be your sign to finally do it. People will be grateful you did.

One to watch.
