Former Federal Reserve vice chair Lael Brainard shares her thoughts about why Americans should be “concerned” around the Trump administration’s latest attacks on the independence of the US central bank. She goes on to comment on President Trump’s shortlist of future Fed chair candidates and the legacy Jerome Powell will leave at the Fed.
Brainard has previously served as the director of the National Economic Council (NEC) under President Biden, as well as the under secretary of the Treasury for International Affairs under the Obama administration.
