Trae Young could benefit the Knicks now in a new way.
Before the 2025-2026 NBA season fired up, the multi-time NBA All-Star Trae Young traded shots with the former outspoken NBA veteran, Patrick Beverley.
The back-and-forth went from social media comments to video rants from both sides.
Young and Beverley haven’t exchanged words publicly in quite some time. The former NBA guard did not forget he was in the midst of a feud with Young. Late on Wednesday night, Beverley took to X to take another shot at Young.
via Patrick Beverley, NBA free agent: Wait wait. Looky looky what happen?? Aww ok I guess I wasn’t wrong!! And why didn’t a contending team want him? And why did ATL trade franchise?
Beverley was responding to a social media post that announced Young’s trade from the Hawks to the Washington Wizards on January 7. It was late, but Beverley made sure to try and get his point across once again.
Trae Young’s Upcoming Wizards Debut

GettyTrae Young is set to make his Washington Wizards debut on Thursday, March 5.
Although Young’s tenure with the Atlanta Hawks ended nearly two months ago, the veteran guard hasn’t had a chance to suit up just yet.
Upon his arrival, the multi-time All-Star was recovering from a setback, which affected him throughout the 2025-2026 season, even when he was with the Hawks.
The Wizards are set to host the Utah Jazz on Thursday, March 5, and Young is slated to make his Washington debut. Perhaps Beverley was waiting for the right moment to attempt to spoil Young’s big night.
The 2025-2026 season hasn’t gone as planned for Young. He didn’t reach a major extension with the Hawks, which signaled he could be on the move for the first time in his career.
After appearing in just 10 games with the Hawks this season, Young averaged 19.3 points (under 20 for the first time since his rookie year). He shot 41% from the field and 30% from three.
Last season, Young averaged 11.6 assists per game, which led the entire NBA. This year, that number was down to 8.9 assists per game.
There isn’t much time left in the season, and the Wizards aren’t on pace to play beyond the regular season, but Young will get an opportunity to get acclimated with his new team before they hit the ground running next season.
What’s Next For The Pat Bev-Trae Young Feud?
We’ll see if Young decides to respond.
During the offseason, the ex-Hawks guard had time. He didn’t appreciate the fact that Beverley suggested All-Stars take the game for granted. Seeing as though Beverley didn’t have any All-Star nods on his resume, Young felt he couldn’t speak on that.
When Beverley fired back, he took shots at Young’s lack of playoff success and suggested that players didn’t want to share the court with him. Points were made from both sides, but the situation simmered down once Young got back to work for his final run with the Hawks.
He left Atlanta with 493 games played during the regular season and 27 playoff matchups across three years. Throughout his career, he posted averages of 25.2 points, 9.8 assists, and 3.5 rebounds, while shooting 43% from the field.
