
With the March 2026 Pixel Drop, the Pixel Watch is also getting a sizable update with new features and backports.
Express Pay will let you make NFC payments without having to first open the Google Wallet app. You can have this work for “Tap to pay and transit” or just “Transit only.” Just turn and tap your Pixel Watch 2+ to a retail terminal.
When your watch is unlocked, use your default card (Visa ••1234) to tap to pay in stores or tap to ride transit without opening Wallet


You can now have your Pixel Watch send an alert if you leave your phone behind. Additionally, the phone can automatically lock if the connection with your watch is lost. This is available on Pixel 8+ and Pixel Watch 2+.
Finally, a paired Watch and phone can be used for faster Identity Checks when they are connected. There are PIN options for this secure access on the Pixel 8 Pro and Pixel 9+, and Pixel Watch 3+.
Google is bringing one-handed gestures to the Pixel Watch 3 after introducing on the PW4. This lets you quickly snooze an alarm, control timers, answer calls, take pictures, and scroll through notifications.
On the safety front, Satellite SOS on the Pixel Watch 4 is expanding beyond the continental US to Hawaii, Alaska, Canada, and Europe. This lets you reach emergency services if you’re out of cellular range.
Finally, the Pixel Watch 2+ is getting Android Earthquake Alerts when you’re not paired to your phone. This provides a few seconds of warning before shaking starts.
