The latest issue of Weekly Famitsu features a four-page interview with Falcom president Toshihiro Kondo on the company’s 45th anniversary, which it celebrated this week. Kondo discusses the Trails series, Kyoto Xanadu, Ys series, and Dragon Slayer Project.
Here are the notable tidbits:
- Recording for the Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter theme song, “Silver Will, Golden Wings,” is already complete.
- The shift to 2D action in Kyoto Xanadu received both positive and negative reactions, but Kondo assures that it is a fun game. There are four difficulty options. Kyoto was chosen as the city as it is representative of Japan.
- Development on a new Ys has just begun. (This was already known.) Adol may be the oldest he has ever been in this game.
- Falcom plans to announce the final entry in the Trails series during the company’s 50th anniversary (2031) and complete it during its 51st year (2032). The plot for the unofficially announced The Legend of Heroes: Trails Beyond the Horizon II is already complete, and the overall ending of the series has been decided. Falcom seems to even have a rough idea of the final protagonist’s profession.
- As for the newly announced Dragon Slayer Project, Kondo would not say whether it is a remake or new game, but asked that users wait for future announcements.
