Families flock to Madison theater for ‘Super Mario Galaxy Movie’ release

MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) – Gloomy weather made for a perfect movie day on Madison’s west side Saturday, where families packed Marcus Point Cinema for the release of the “Super Mario Galaxy Movie.”

Some attendees arrived dressed as characters from the iconic Nintendo franchise, stopping for photos before heading into showings.

Moviegoers also took part in “Super Mario”-themed crafts and picked up collectibles, including posters and mini popcorn cauldrons.

Father and son duo Andrew and Tomas Musto said they planned to bring part of the experience home for a younger family member not yet old enough to attend.

“Yeah, we’re gonna collect some collectibles for the little ones and bring them home and ensure he gets to be a part of it even though he’s not quite old enough to come to the movies,” they said.

Showings continue Sunday at Marcus Point Cinema through 10 p.m.
