Farioli Defends Moffi After Mixed Europa League Display

Francesco Farioli has defended Terem Moffi, insisting the striker is moving in the right direction despite criticism from supporters following FC Porto’s 1-1 draw with Nottingham Forest in the Europa League.

Moffi delivered an energetic display in the encounter, creating chances and coming close to scoring, including a first-half header that was denied by the goalkeeper.

However, frustration grew among parts of the crowd, and the Nigerian forward was booed when he was substituted in the 60th minute after missing a clear opportunity.

Speaking ahead of Porto’s upcoming Portuguese league fixture against Estoril Praia, Farioli called for patience and stronger backing for the striker.

He praised Moffi’s effort, movement, and commitment in recent matches, stressing that goals will eventually follow if he maintains his current work rate.

“He is on the right path,” the coach said, noting that the forward has already contributed important goals this season and continues to show determination to improve.

Farioli also appealed for unity within the squad and among supporters, explaining that emotional reactions during games should not overshadow the long-term goals of the club.

He added that every player remains focused on helping FC Porto achieve success across all competitions.

The manager further stressed that player development requires time and adaptation, especially in European football. He urged fans to remain patient with Moffi as he continues adjusting to the demands of the team and improving his link-up play and movement in attacking areas.

Farioli expressed confidence that consistent encouragement will help the striker rediscover full confidence and deliver stronger performances in the coming matches, adding that he expects Moffi to contribute more goals for FC Porto in upcoming fixtures ahead.
