Footage shared by onlookers showed debris from the yacht scattered across rocks along the rugged shoreline. The vessel is understood to have struck the cape during severe south-westerly winds measuring six to eight Beaufort, accompanied by storms, lightning, and heavy rain.
According to local media reports, vessels from the Hellenic Coast Guard, private craft, and passing ships responded to the scene, alongside a Super Puma helicopter from the Greek Air Force. Four individuals were on board at the time of the incident and were airlifted to the General Hospital of Molaoi for medical checks. All are reported to be in good health, with no injuries confirmed. Authorities have stated that full details of the incident remain under investigation.
The yacht remains at the location of the grounding, with efforts underway to remove or secure the vessel. Although it was believed to have been carrying approximately six tonnes of fuel, authorities confirmed that no marine pollution has been reported and that water ingress is currently under control.
An investigation into the circumstances surrounding the grounding is expected to continue as authorities assess the next steps and launch an official investigation into the incident.
